Privacy Policy

This is an English translation of the Korean policy. If the two differ, the Korean version prevails.

"Prayer Flame" (the "Service") values your privacy and complies with the Personal Information Protection Act of the Republic of Korea. This policy explains what information the Service collects, why, and how it is kept and deleted.

1. Information we collect and how

• When you sign in with Kakao: your Kakao member ID, nickname, and profile photo URL, received from Kakao with your consent.
• When you sign in with Apple: your Apple user identifier (a unique number Apple issues separately for each app) and, if you allow it on the Apple sign-in screen, your name. We do not store the email address Apple provides.
• When you sign in with Google: your Google account identifier (a unique number for your Google account) and, if you allow it on the Google sign-in screen, your name. We do not receive or store your email address or profile photo.
• Entered by you while using the Service: your name (nickname), prayer room names, descriptions and prayer times, reflections, notification settings, reports, and your list of blocked users.
• Collected automatically: the time you enter a prayer room, a device token for push notifications (if you use them), access records (for each day: first and last access time, the kind of device (app or web), and the number of active minutes), and server error logs. Access records do not include your IP address or device identifiers.

We do not collect email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, or location.

Prayer room names and reflections may reveal your religious beliefs. Because this may be sensitive information under Article 23 of the Personal Information Protection Act, we ask for separate consent for it when you sign up. We process it only to run prayer rooms. If you do not consent, you cannot use the Service (it is the core function and there is no alternative). You can withdraw consent by deleting your account, and all related information is deleted when you do.

1-1. Consent and users under 14

When you sign up, we ask for your consent to each of the following, all required: confirming you are 14 or older · the Terms of Service · collection and use of personal information · collection and use of information that may contain religious beliefs. We record when you consented and which version you agreed to. People under 14 cannot sign up. To withdraw consent, delete your account; your information is deleted immediately. If the Terms or this policy change, we ask for your consent again in the app.

2. How we use it

• Identifying you and keeping you signed in
• Running prayer rooms — counting streaks, sharing rooms among members, sharing reflections
• Sending the notifications you turned on (reminder before start, flame-at-risk warning, someone joined, flame kept)
• Protecting users — handling reports and blocks, and responding to Terms violations
• Finding and fixing errors in the Service, and understanding how the Service is used (access records)

3. Video and audio calls

Video, audio and screen sharing in prayer rooms are transmitted in real time only, through a video server operated by the Service (AWS Seoul region), and are never recorded or stored. The camera and microphone are used only when you turn them on in a prayer room.

3-1. Optional prayer audio and AI scripture recommendations

Prayer audio uses your device's text-to-speech engine. Prayer text is cleared when you leave the screen and is not stored on our server. Data processing by your selected voice engine depends on its settings and policies.

Only when you request a recommendation and agree to send your text, your current prayer or reflection is sent through our server to Google Gemini. This may include religious beliefs or personal information you wrote, including private reflections. The recommendation request does not include your member name, member ID, or room name. Our server does not store or log recommendation content or results. Google's processing is governed by its service policies. You can continue using prayer rooms and reflections without using AI recommendations.

4. Retention and deletion

• Account information, prayer rooms, reflections, notification settings and block lists: deleted immediately when you delete your account.
• Report records: kept to handle reports and disputes. If the reporter or the reported user deletes their account, the link to that person is removed and only the content remains.
• Device tokens: deleted when you sign out or delete your account, and when a failed delivery shows a token is no longer valid.
• Prayer rooms you owned pass to another member if there is one; if you were the only member, the room is deleted.
• Access records: kept for 1 year, then deleted; deleted immediately when you delete your account.
• Server error logs: kept for up to 90 days, then deleted.

You can delete your account at any time in the app under Settings → Account → Delete account.

5. Sharing with third parties and processors

We do not sell your personal information. We use the following services to operate the app and provide features you choose.

• Kakao Corp. — Kakao sign-in
• Apple Inc. — Sign in with Apple
• Google LLC — Google sign-in
• Google Gemini — scripture recommendations based on prayer or reflection text you explicitly agree to send. Text is sent only when you use AI recommendations.
• Amazon Web Services (Seoul region) — hosting for servers, the database and the video server. Account information, prayer rooms, reflections, and media streams during calls (not stored) are processed on these servers. The video and audio server is operated by the Service itself and is not handed to a separate video provider.
• Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging) — delivering push notifications (device token). Processing begins when push notifications are introduced; nothing is sent before then.

6. Your rights

You can view, edit and delete your information in the app at any time, and request full deletion by deleting your account. You can also contact us at the address below.

7. Security measures

We use encryption in transit (HTTPS), least-privilege access, and server-side access restriction for private reflections.
